It’s Cheap, Popular, and Widely Available, but is Sprig a True Health-Promoting CBD Drink? Our Review.

Background: Who is Sprig?

With 5 years in the game, Sprig is a stalwart of the CBD-infused drink industry and has become something like the Coca-Cola of CBD drinks, in terms of:

  • Market share (they have 4,000 retail accounts),
  • Distribution (one of the few CBD drinks widely available in corner stores and gas stations),
  • And inexpensiveness (costing $2.50 each).

There’s a good chance that Sprig is the only CBD-infused beverage sold in retail in your state. So how does it measure up? Let’s take a look.

Sprig CBD-infused Sparkling Soda Review

Taste Score: 7.5/10

Does the drink taste bueno or no bueno?

Sprig comes in 4 flavors:

  • Citrus Original
  • Citrus Zero Sugar
  • Lemon Tea
  • Melon

As far as sparkling sodas go these drinks are pretty tasty, especially the Citrus Original (it tastes like a classic orange soda, though with plenty of sugar to boot). We didn’t enjoy the lemon tea quite as much, which tasted a bit watered-down.

Nothing to write home about, but if you’re looking for a quick fix of carbonated fruitiness, Sprig will get the job done.

Value Score: 9.5/10

How much CBD bang are you getting for your buck?

In a CBD-infused beverage market saturated with extreme price points (regularly running $8+ per drink), Sprig’s affordability ($2.50 a pop) is its biggest selling point. Sprig clocks in at 20mg of CBD, and considering that we at Remedy Journey often pay $6-8 for drinks with 15-20mg of CBD, overall that’s a very good value.

Health score: 7/10

How committed is this brand to health and wellness? We look at all the ingredients.

All of Sprig’s flavors except the Classic Citrus are zero sugar, which is a plus.

However, while most other CBD drinks include other health-promoting ingredients, Sprig is pretty much CBD and alternative sweeteners and not much else. Sprig also uses CBD isolate, which isn’t quite as effective medicinally as full-spectrum CBD. Finally, Sprig’s CBD is not extracted from organic hemp (our preference).

Relief Score: 7.5/10

Many of us consume CBD to relieve ailments. Does this product provide effective relief?

The Remedy Journey team frequently drinks Sprig, and our consensus is that they provide mildly effective (but not overly impressive) relief.

I found that they calmed my anxiety, though not for a very long period of time and not as powerfully as some other (full-spectrum) CBD drinks that I’ve tried.

X-Factor: 6/10

What makes this drink special? Does it promote productivity or focus? Does it get one “lit”?

This is one area that Sprig is decidedly lacking: whereas other drinks tend to include things like caffeine, adaptogens, B vitamins, and other goodies that boost mood and productivity, Sprig is really just CBD.

Not that there’s anything wrong with that (and it’s what you’d expect at the price point), but these drinks don’t have the uniqueness, style, or mood-enhancing effects that some others do.

Final Verdict: 7.6/10

Let’s put it all together: what’s our overall take on this drink?

Our take on Sprig could be summarized as follows:

Nothing that will blow your socks off, (and not the most health-promoting choice on the market) but a solid, dependable CBD-infused beverage that’s widely available and inexpensive. They lack the super sexy design of a drink like Recess, or the nutritional and productivity-enhancing punch of GT’s Sparkling Wellness Waters or Vybes, but if you need a chill-pill, Sprig is a solid choice.
